Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Samantha Vidyarathna states that measures will be carried out to offer instant real estate for households still living in relief camps following the landslides triggered throughout the recent past.The Minister specified that the building of your houses will begin in the first week of March.He highlighted this during a discussion held today (10) at the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure with Ministry Secretaries and tri-forces officers.The Minister pointed out that 22 families in the Kegalle District are currently living in relief camps due to landslides, while 51 households in the Haldummulla area of the Badulla District have been residing in a closed tea factory in Kabaragala for the previous five years, along with their children.He mentioned that the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure will offer funding for the building of permanent homes for these displaced households.
The construction work will be carried out by the tri-forces, with Sri Lanka Army managing the jobs in Haldummulla and Kabaragala, while Sri Lanka Navy will manage building efforts in Kegalle.Additionally, the Minister noted that authorities will go to the Kabaragala relief camp on Saturday (15) and the Kegalle relief camp on Monday (17) to accelerate the building process.
